with Glen Hansard

OK Choir Alum...what are the rest of you doing with your music?

WHAT A BAZAAR DAY!

The Vocal Ensemble hosted a Holiday Bazaar & Cinnamon Roll Pick-Up Day on
Saturday, November 21 in the THS Cafeteria.

The goal: To raise money to sing at Disney World April 12, 2010.

We had quite a wonderful time.

Starting @ 6 AM moms began baking the cinnamon rolls for pickup while vendors began setting up their tables.

In the hall outside the cafeteria Bob created an awesome arrow out of lights (of which I didn't get a picture of...did any body else?)

At 9 AM more singers and moms arrived to help with the day's festivities.

Here are some pictures of a few vendors.

We had some VE
alumni visit: Laura, Steph, Melissa, Bonnie & Tim. That was a nice surprise!

Thank you
to the moms that helped: Janet, Jo, Tammy, Jean, Charlotte, Becky, Teresa & Jacque. It was a success due to your efforts.

This was our first Holiday Baz
aar, but I don't think it was our last. There was a good all-round feeling during the day and we really did have a nice turnout of people that came to shop. I even got some Christmas shopping done!

Until next year.

THESPIANS & THE CHOIR DEPARTMENT

Congratulations to our choir members that were involved in
this year's Fall Play, Out of Sight...Out of Murder:

And Lydia...blue is definitely your color.

JH MIXED CHOIR FIELD TRIP

The Junior High Mixed Choir sang at Five Rivers Retirement Community on Friday, October 30th. Of course, I had forgotten it was "Dress in your Halloween Costume Day" at school so the residents received not only a concert, but a Costume Style Show.

It's always a treat (not a trick* :-) ) to sing for the residents at Five Rivers.

BARBARA BLAIR WORKSHOP

Thanks to the Monday Musical Club of Tillamook, the Vocal Ensemble and Jazz Band were treated to a workshop with Barbara Blair and Jazz Trio.

We heard some cool jazz
from some very talented jazz musicians.

We know more about what a bridge is and what it means to "vamp".

Also, they performed one song in three different styles: Latin, Swing and Ballad.

Keep singing.

SCAPPOOSE CHOIR EXCHANGE

Mrs. Routh, the choir director from Scappoose HS said her choir was coming to Tillamook for a retreat. She asked, "Do you want to do a choir exchange?" I said, "For sure".

This is how it all turned out

The Mixed Choir had their After Concert party so these 3 lovely ladies prepared water bottles and Tillamook (of course) cheese samples with a welcome note for each Scappoose singer.

Our Concert Choir organized ourselves on the risers just as Scappoose arrived.

We sang and then they sang for us.

The bell rang, and the Vocal Ensemble took a turn at "exchanging" songs.

We took a group picture (thank you to Shannon, Mrs. Routh's student teacher this year) and then gathered in the choir room.

SHS sang a parting song and then we said our goodbyes.

What a great afternoon of singing. Thank you for coming, SHS!!
