MEN'S CHOIR FESTIVAL AT OSU

ATTENTION all of you men in the THS Choral Department!!

Oregon State University is hosting a Men's Choir Festival. I'll take as many of you that want to go.

It costs $10 and you have to buy your own music. You'd also need a sack lunch and money to eat dinner out. The link to the website is below. Don't sign up on your own. I'll talk about it at school and I'll register our entire THS singers at one time.

Registration begins on September 5th, so we'll have to get right on this one to get THS a spot in the choir.

eSCRIP REALLY HELPS OUR CHOIR!!

Our Choir Department has been registered with the eScrip program and it has really boosted our choir accounts!!!!!

I've posted this before, but I thought it would be a good thing to start the year out with a re-posting of the information.

If you haven't signed up with your Safeway Card #, YOU can help us earn money.

This is REALLY exciting and this simple act of kindness can reap GREAT benefits for the choir.

Every time you purchase items at Safeway our Choir Department will receive a percentage of your purchases!

There is no money out of your pocket. This is one way Safeway Stores contribute to education.

All you have to do is click on the eScrip link on the bottom left of this page which will take you to the eScrip sign-up page...(don't click on the banner above like it says...it won't take you to their site).

The THS CHOIR ID is #500016186
The TJHS CHOIR ID is #500016515

Complete the 6 steps and voila. You'll be helping us raise funds. All of the money is electronically deposited into the school account and the secretary credits the choir account from the bank statement. Thank you in advance!

AUGUST NOTES

Thanks to Becqua & Helen Rogers, Loren Decker, Beau Pulliam and our wonderful Karla Bofill for their help in assisting the THS Booster Club park cars at the Tillamook County Fair.

W
e took an early shift on Thursday and it kept us plenty busy. Every year we help out the Boosters because I will be (again) asking them for financial help to maintain our HS choral program. The Booster Club is always so generous and happy to help us out.

And let's not forget all of our choir members who so selflessly gave of their time for other endeavors like...

working in the SAFE booth...

And those that danced, sang in the Talent Show and entered animals and the like.

Congratulations to all of you - you helped make the 2008 Fair great!

Saturday night the Vocal Ensemble sang the National Anthem before the Demolition Derby. We had only one mic, but the crowd could hear us and I heard many compliments.

Th
anks to 5 VE alumni that sang with us: Amy Nordlander, Nasha vanDijken, Nathan Casteel, David Henderson and Timothy Wetzel.

We sorta "picked them up" as we waited by the track to sing.

Tonight I (and hopefully 1 or 2 VE members) will be attending the TSD School Board meeting at the District Office to share our plans to tour San Francisco this next Spring. The school board always appreciates a heads up...plus we kind of need their approval.

Tomorrow - Tuesday, August 12th - the Vocal Ensemble will be holding a Car Wash at Kepharts from 10:00 - 1:00. Please come and get your cars washed. I've seen some of your cars and they look mighty dirty...j/k.

Just 3 more weeks and classes will be in session. Start warming up your voices - we've got a lot of singing ahead of us!

NEW SLIDESHOW

I've finally changed the slide show on the left. I took off the Bahama pictures and replaced them with pictures from the 2008 Seniors Last Day. We were busy singing some of their favorite songs from the past. Enjoy re-living that memorable day.

I hope to see many of you at the Fair. I'll be th
ere most every day - probably eating something.

Have a great August . . . and I'll see you soon in class!

Keep singing to get your voice in shape for our new year. I'm excited to get started and hope you are, too.

The picture . . .a "casual" pose from the 2008 Anything Goes cast.

VOCAL ENSEMBLE TO SING AT THE FAIR

On Saturday, August 9th, the Vocal Ensemble will be singing the National Anthem before the evening Demolition Derby.

We're getting some practice in today (1:00) and next week (Tuesday - August 5th @ 10 AM) - so all you blog readers - be sure to come out Saturday night and hear us sing.

It will be the debut outing for
the 2008-2009 THS Vocal Ensemble.

The picture was taken a few days ago when I was in North Dakota. We visited family and - of course - we had to make some music along the way.
