CALLING ALL VOCAL ENSEMBLE ALUMNI . . .

Homecoming is Friday, October 24th and the Vocal Ensemble will be singing the National Anthem before the football game with any Vocal Ensemble Alumni that can make it back "home".

All Vocal Ensemble members that have sung the National Anthem with Mrs. Henderson are invited to meet at the flagpole by the track at 6:30 PM.

We'll practice through it a couple of times
and then sing it together - in front of the grandstand.

Pass the word around. I'll have the music there for Alumni. You'll be surprised how well you remember it when you're singing beside someone else singing your part.

NEW VOCAL ENSEMBLE MEMBER

The THS Vocal Ensemble welcomes Mara Pratt as our newest tenor. She'll be joining us for the rest of the year to add that "extra voice" to balance out our group.

WELCOME, MARA!

BAY CITY ARTS CENTER

I've added a new link for more cultural opportunities RIGHT HERE IN TILLAMOOK COUNTY!

The Bay City Arts Center (BCAC) has a website to check out...even bookmark:

http://web.mac.com/baycityartscenter/iWeb/site/Welcome.html

They have OPEN MIC nights, a WEST AFRICAN WEEK (check out the video from 2007), LIFE DRAWING CLASSES and in January they will be hosting PORTLAND CHILDREN'S OPERA performing Puccini's La Boheme. They have Literary Events, a Teen Playwriting Contest, and many more Special Events.

(The BCAC is where I went last year to see that Tuvan Throat Singer I told all of you about in class.)

Whoever said "there's nothing to do in Tillamook" just hasn't looked around very well.

Hopefully these ideas will help you look!

NEW CHOIR "BULLETIN BOARD"

I was hoping for a real bulletin board outside the Choir Room in the Choir Hallway, but in the end I've settled for a painted Bulletin Board Border.

We needed someplace to post all the college audition information and other important CHOIR NEWS I get in the mail. . . Not to mention the UPCOMING EVENTS.

Visit the "bulletin board" often and keep up with all the opportunities available to you.

"CHOIR COUNSELORS" AT OUTDOOR SCHOOL

Vocal Ensemble just wasn't the same without our Outdoor School Choir Counselors on Monday, so we all got busy and wrote letters to our missing Choir singing-mates.

I went to visit ODS on Monday evening, ate dinner with some THS Choir alumni (Teddy Bear an
d Spartacus),delivered the letters and got some great shots of some of our choir members as they were in their "Counselor Element".

No Name, Captain Jalepeno, Kazoo, Fibinacci, Mocha Joe, Pickle Bee, Okey Dokey and Ace are pictured....

A cappella's picture is from a different time. I owe you, girl...

No letters AND no ODS picture.

Believe me none of that was on purpose...

We really do love you

OREGON SYMPHONY COMING TO TILLAMOOK!

The Oregon Symphony has chosen Tillamook for its 2008-2010 Community Music Partnership program. Funded by a $340,000 grant from the Ford Family Foundation, we are really excited about this gift!

The Partnership is a 2 year program and will involve students, staff, parents and community members.

All schools will have personal contact with the conductor, Gregory Vajda and members of the Oregon Symphony. Stay tuned for more information as the year goes on. Choir Members - there's singing involved!!

Any parent or community member wanting to get involved on a school Leadership Team should contact that school's principal.

I've added a link on the left so you can check out all Oregon Symphony news as it happens...especially the news involving Tillamook. There's an August 1st News Release about our selection on the link. Check it out!

You can also go to: http://www.orsymphony.org if you want to read more.

FIRST WEEK

We've only had classes for 2 days, but we're off to a GREAT start!

The OSU Men's Choir Festival is in November and 8 of our men are signed up to attend.

The Vocal Ensemble will be auditioning to sing the National Anthem for a Portland Trailblazers basketball game.

The Concert Choir will be voting on Section Leaders tomorrow. I'll post the results as soon as possible.

Keep posted for choir updates...and...Keep singing!

AUDITORIUM PICTURES

The auditorium is off limits, but I did have a chance to stand in the choir room hall doorway today.

I snapped these pictures to give you an idea of what an immense project this is.

We hope to be in our auditorium sometime in January. Tha
t will be a great day!

The first picture is taken looking across the front of the stage toward the band room.

The second picture is taken looking up toward the sound booth (although it's hard to tell).
